Recently, the Orders menu has changed and is no longer divided by day. Screenshots below.   - Today - Tomorrow - Future Dates   This makes it incredibly difficult to read at a glance. The $ order total was also very helpful.   Secondly, new orders were better presented in the running list with the "New" label vs. under the Scheduled tab.   "Scheduled' orders will not print unless they are marked as 'in progress' which did not happen before this change. I'd like to occasionally gift stars to my rewards members and also reward them for things other than purchases. For example, I'd like to gift my loyalty members a star during their birthday month (I submitted a separate request for automated birthday groups in the directory). Another example, I'd like to gift all customers a star for Christmas. I also gift customers stars for sending me referrals.   I'd love to automate complimentary stars on certain dates, but the option to do it manually with a bulk action would be great.   There would also need to be another option under the reason for the status change. First.. I love that there is now a deposit option! It REALLY helps with collecting a fee for No show/Late cancellations as before, people would just shut their card off and we could not charge. I do, however have a lot of feedback regarding the feature that I feel is important to make this option really worth it. 1) We need to be able to book an appointment on behalf of a customer WITH the deposit option. As of right now, we cannot, which makes me have to send the customer to our website to book, which may result in me losing that booking. 2) Checkout option on the terminal. I am not going to use the desktop or card on file option because it A. Costs me more money in transaction fees, but it B. Is a fraud liability as they are not physically swiping or inserting and can easily dispute charges which would result in their favor. 3) The deposits show as "partial payment" and does not appear under our actual sales unless the transaction is completed on the desktop. I have had MULTIPLE issues and concerns about whether I am actually receiving these deposits because the sales amount I am collecting does not match the amount going into my bank at the end of the day, and the discrepancy is with the deposit amounts. This makes my reports appear really off.. 4) There should be an option for customers to cancel their appointment as well. Right now, there is not. If they want to cancel, they have to call us and we have to "refund" the deposit, which also costs me money in square fees. Problem statement: For online delivery orders, I cannot apply sales tax to service charges and delivery fee at the same time. Current behavior: I want to add a 15% service charge to online delivery orders, on top of the delivery fee that goes to the courier company. There are two ways to do it in Square, but neither allows me to collect sales tax on both fees as required by law in WA (and I believe in many other states.) Way 1: Set a "service fee" under the "Fulfillment methods" menu to an amount or a percentage. There is no option to make this service fee taxable. I have tried all tax settings under the "Payments -> Sales taxes" menu. Some of them will allow me to have the delivery fee taxed. But none of them enables tax on the service fee. Way 2: Use "service charge" under the "Payments -> Service charges" menu. This service charge can be taxed. But to auto-apply a service charge to online delivery orders, I need to configure the "Delivery sales tax" setting (under the "Payments -> Sales taxes" menu) to use the "default sales tax" option. With that option, the "Exempt delivery fees from tax" option is forced to YES. Hence, the delivery fee is not taxed. Expected behavior: I can choose any of the 4 tax options below on the "Online delivery and pickup taxes" setting page and still be able to auto-apply service charges to delivery orders. a) Apply automatically generated tax rates b) Manually apply taxes based on destination c) Apply default sales tax d) Do not collect taxes Regardless of which choice I choose, tax rate applied on service charges for delivery orders will follow the choice (i.e., the service charges are taxed at the same rate as the food items and the delivery fee.) This change is an enhancement and not a breaking change. Group A: Merchants who currently use service fee can continue to do so. Group B: Merchants who currently auto-apply service charge to delivery orders (and is currently forced to pick choice c) can continue to do so. The change will allow merchants in group B to move to choice a) or b). Delivery fee will then be taxed, and these merchants can also enable destination-based taxes if they want. There is a similar post created a year ago where another user (@makedonas) lost a good sum of money due to this shortcoming. I learned from that post that Square treats this as a feature request. How can a wrong treatment on tax not a bug? Am I missing something? I am very open to be enlightened here. I hope Square helps me and potentially other merchants on this soon.
